Thetford is an historic market town in Norfolk, situated approximately 12 miles north of Bury St Edmunds and 30 miles northeast of Cambridge. The town’s history dates back to the Iron Age. It was a major Iceni tribal centre, a principle Saxon City and one of the largest towns in Britain in the Doomsday book.
The town’s development was closely tied to forestry, particularly paper.
